I have been neglecting this blog dreadfully but I’m back! I’ve been swamped at work, been ill and after all the computer problems at work I’ve honestly been avoiding technology like the plague!
So, since the last post a lot has been happening. I’ve now been living and working in Barcelona for over two months and it’s been an amazing experience so far.
At work, I, unlike a lot of interns out there actually get to do things. No fetching coffee or menial tasks like Anne Hathaway in Devil Wears Prada but real, exhausting (in a good way) work. This year as well as being an opportunity to improve my Spanish is a test run to help me figure out just what it is I want to do after I graduate. With my love of travel and luxury (who doesn’t?!) I thought this internship would be the ideal place to see if marketing, content, edition and tourism were really my cup of tea. I’ve been writing hotel descriptions, managing social media and last week completed my first blog piece for the company. Just in these two months I’ve learnt so much and I’m loving it! I was nervous about writing for Splendia’s blog at first but I got it done and am really happy with it. My boss even liked my pictures I used for the article and has suggested I do more photography based posts which is music to my ears! If any of you fancy reading about safaris then check my post out: http://blog.splendia.com/out-of-africa/
Besides work I’ve been exploring Barcelona and have met even more wonderful people. Played volleyball with a group of girls from Hillsong and I have to admit, volleyball is not my sport! It was great getting to know some Spanish people and I’ve even found a Brazilian girl who wants to help me with my Portuguese which is perfect. Then, last weekend I went to the Barcelona Beach Festival and saw Avicii, which was an experience to say the least. I’m not a huge fan of the festival scene but the music was great and it’s nice to do something different once in a while. In between all of this I’ve eaten out a bit too much, spent every possible free moment at the beach and started enjoying early morning runs.
Since then I have been off work for the week with sinusitis and just generally feeling a bit rubbish. Spent the time catching up on films and have realised I have seen far too many romantic comedies as it was a struggle to find something I hadn’t seen. Note to self, try out another genre!
On the mend now and can’t wait to see what else Barcelona has to offer.
